Sessional Tutors

Learn Harrow is recruiting sessional tutors to deliver a range of subjects

We are looking for enthusiastic, experienced, and flexible tutors to deliver a range of accredited and non-accredited courses. The post offers excellent progression opportunities and a chance to work with a brilliant and supportive team. We are looking for tutors in the following areas:

  • Performing arts
  • Visual arts (and crafts)
  • English, maths and ICT
  • Vocational qualifications - Health and Social Care, Childcare, Business Admin
  • Employability
  • Skills for Health and wellbeing

Duties

  • Carry out initial diagnostics and assessments.
  • Deliver group-based accredited and non-accredited courses, building participant resilience/skills and positive attitudes towards work, further training and job searching.
  • Tailor and deliver group courses to meet learners needs and learning styles.
  • To work within the Learn Harrow Quality framework ensuring that services delivered meet the standards required of the contract.
  • To maintain effective and efficient administrative procedures as required

Flexibility

The job description is intended to provide a broad outline of the main duties and responsibilities only. The post holder will need to be flexible in developing the role in conjunction with the line manager. The post holder may be asked to carry out any other delegated duty or task that is in line with their post.

ESSENTIAL

  • Must hold a teaching qualification

Experience:

  • Experience of undergoing an Ofsted observations as well as internal and other external observations.
  • Relevant previous experience in the employability and welfare to work sector.
  • Experience working with disadvantaged people and in particular those with health problems and unemployed people.
  • Experience of teaching individuals of all diverse cultural backgrounds.

Skills:

  • Adaptable and flexibility, this is an essential requirement for the role.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills.
  • Strong coaching and teaching ability.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of online learning platforms
  • Knowledge of internal Quality Assurance processes.

Other requirements

  • Willingness to travel inside the designated work area and occasionally outside for meetings.
  • Positive attitude to disability and diverse communities.
  • Willingness to undertake Disclosure & Barring checks and level 3 Safeguarding and Prevent training
