Harrow Council is the 12th largest London Borough by area and one of the most culturally diverse local authorities in the UK, making it a great place to live, work and visit. Located 10 miles from the city centre and just 13 minutes to Euston from Harrow & Wealdstone station there are great transport links via the Metropolitan Line, Watford DC Line and national rail service. It is easily accessible to the M1, M25 and A406.

The Corporate Policy team has successfully secured £1m from Government departments to fund three projects and is looking to appoint a Project Support Officer to join their team and provide direct project support to: the Early Intervention Youth Fund, the Domestic Violence Refuge project and the Engaging Eastern European Communities project on a 12 months contract.

The appointed candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating project activities; arranging meetings, events and training; assisting with the production of monitoring reports, financial returns and project documentation and running reports off case management systems.

They will also be required to work closely with all the project partners including: voluntary and community sector partners; other teams within the council and other local authorities.

We are looking for someone who has a can-do attitude and is willing to work as part of a small team. You need to be able to demonstrate initiative, excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent IT skills, attention to detail and high standards of accuracy and have excellent organisational and time management skills.

To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:

  • Understanding of project management methodology.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office particularly Excel.
  • Experience of co-ordinating and arranging meetings, events and training
  • Experience of extracting information from a range of sources and producing clear, error free and well-presented reports for a range of audiences.
  • Experience of quality assuring documents – an attention to detail.
  • Experience of developing communications information for staff and managers.
  • Graduate qualification in a relevant subject area or relevant knowledge gained from career experience.
