Harrow Council’s Collection and Housing Benefits division are currently recruiting for a Revenues & Benefits Systems Support Assistant to join their team.  As Systems Support Assistant you would provide technical support to the Revenues and Benefits team including assisting the System and Support Officers to implement new system releases and patches and ensuring all work is coordinated with relevant departments and completed on time. Further responsibilities would include assisting in the maintenance of controls on systems access and security including logs and audit trails, ensuring quality control and security and integrity of user access, running reports to assist in producing Government and other statistical returns for service areas and assisting with the provision of first level support / service delivery functions to ensure continuous improvements and maximise capacity of systems to improve efficiency within the service areas.

To be successful in this role you will have experience working in a Revenues or Benefits Office, excellent numeracy and literacy skills, the ability to pick up IT skills quickly and effectively and the ability to maintain attention to detail.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working in a Revenues or Benefits office with an understanding of the legislation and work
  • An awareness of the work carried out in Revenues or Housing Benefits systems as well as an understanding of running batch schedulers and parameter setting
  • Adept at resolving technical issues and be methodical and organised in your approach
  • Ability to work on own initiative in a pressurised environment with ever changing and conflicting priorities
  • Good interpersonal skills and articulate
